Positive Organizations is proud to be partnering with the Locarno Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals worldwide, as their Official Sustainability Partner.
Positive Organizations plays a key role in supporting the Festival’s sustainability journey. Their expertise focuses on measuring the direct and indirect CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) emissions associated with the Festival's activities. This data will be central in identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective strategies to reduce the event’s environmental footprint. It further supports the Festival’s Team in the development and implementation of a comprehensive ESG strategy that will continue to position the prestigious film event as a sustainability leader, having been the first in its industry to produce a sustainability report (GRI) and often invited to advise other festivals in this area.
This partnership reflects Positive Organizations' ongoing commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives within various sectors, including the event industry. We are delighted to contribute to the Locarno Film Festival’s efforts to continue creating powerful cinematic, cultural and community experiences that can be achieved minimizing their environmental impact.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Locarno Film Festival,” says Giovanni Facchinetti, Managing Partner at Positive Organizations. “The Locarno Film Festival’s global reputation and prestige, coupled with their dedication to sustainability, aligns perfectly with our mission of empowering organizations to make a positive impact. By working together, we can ensure this iconic cultural event operates in an environmentally responsible manner, setting a compelling example for the whole sector. ”
The Locarno Film Festival shares Positive Organizations' enthusiasm for this partnership. Fabienne Merlet, Head of Partnerships & CSR at the Festival, comments, “For years, we have been committed to improving our sustainability practices, reducing our environmental footprint, consolidating our leadership in social impact, and supporting local economies. Starting this year, our goal is to further improve our sustainability performance. For more than seven decades, the Locarno Film Festival has been at the forefront of the international festival circuit, premiering films by both established auteurs and rapidly rising talents. Nestled among the Swiss Alps and facing out onto the majestic Lake Maggiore, the city of Locarno is transformed for eleven days each August into the world capital of auteur cinema. Films can be enjoyed in the calm and concentration of a theater or out in the open air under the stars on the Piazza Grande, the spectacular outdoor cinema that accommodates an audience of up to 8,000 public spectators a night, considered one of the largest such spaces in the world.
